Willem-Alexander under fire again over Mozambique villa
Dutch Prince Willem-Alexander appears to be under fire again in connection with a holiday villa on the island of Mozambique.
RTL News has reported that the Dutch ambassador to South Africa said the prince and his wife Máxima would be taking a holiday in the villa this year. If true, this contradicts an earlier statement by the prince that he intended to sell the villa as soon as it was built.
In 2009, the prince announced his intention to invest in two villas in a development project in Mozambique. Following construction delays, allegations of corruption involving a contractor on the project and a vocal controversy about the morality of investing in such a project in such a poor country, the prince and princess said they had decided to sell the property once it was completed in 2010.
The prince and princess are currently attending the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
