AMSTERDAM - Geert Wilders is brewing a "toxic mixture" by questioning people's loyalty in the discussion on dual nationality. Writer and prominent Labour Party (PvdA) member Paul Scheffer said this on Sunday during a debate in Amsterdam.

"A fatal mistake is being made here. Dual nationality and loyalty are two entirely separate matters."

All the same PvdA MP Khadija Arib does not expect the discussion on the loyalty of ethnic minorities to the Netherlands to subside. "The commotion about me personally will hopefully die down, but the discussion on loyalty is just beginning. This will be high on the agenda in the near future," she said.

Arib was attacked fiercely by Freedom Party (PVV) leader Geert Wilders because of an advisory seat she holds for the Human Rights Council in Morocco. Wilders called on her to make a choice between membership in Parliament and her advisory work.
