Wilders: Hands off mortgage interest tax rebate

13th December 2011, Comments 0 comments

Freedom Party leader Geert Wilders is adamant about maintaining mortgage interest tax benefits for home owners.

In an interview with national newspaper De Telegraaf on Tuesday he said:

Coalition partners VVD conservative and CDA Christian democrats rely on the Freedom Party for parliamentary support of their minority cabinet.

The need for additional multi-billion-euro budget cuts has reignited debate on whether to scrap the mortgage interest tax rebate, an issue that is often considered the ‘third rail’ of Dutch politics.
