The 2003 footage showed Tanja Nijmeijer acting as an interpreter between guerrilla commanders and three US hostages.

Colombia – The video footage of Tanja Nijmeijer, a Dutch woman who joined the Colombian FARC rebel movement, has surfaced.

The recordings, dated back to 2003, showed Nijmeijer seen in profile and from behind acting as an interpreter between guerrilla commanders and three US hostages.

The material was supplied to Radio Netherlands Worldwide by Colombian journalist Jorge Enrique Botero.

Voice recognition software used by US and Colombian intelligence services confirm that the woman shown in the video is Nijmeijer.

Earlier in May, the Colombian public prosecutor announced that Nijmeijer will be prosecuted on charges of rebellion. It is not clear whether the newly surfaced video footage will be used as evidence in the case.

Nothing has been heard of Nijmeijer since her diaries were found and published in 2007.
