AMSTERDAM - Dutch star swimmer Marleen Veldhuis had to undergo a dope test on Tuesday night, even though she was attending the award ceremony for the Dutch Athletes of the Year.
Veldhuis, who earlier this year finished second at the world championships in Melbourne in 100m freestyle, missed a scheduled out-of-competition test as she was attending the ceremony, where she was crowned as the female Dutch Athlete of the Year.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the Dutch National Olympic Committee agreed that Veldhuis could go to be tested at the end of the ceremony.
