Van Marwijk signs new contract
Bert van Marwijk has agreed to extend his contract with the Dutch national football team until 2016. Van Marwijk signed the contract in Zeist on Thursday evening.
The Dutch coach, who has been tremendously successful in the job so far, will stay on until after the 2016 European Cup. Van Marwijk, who took over from Marco van Basten in 2008, could be the first national coach to take Oranje to the final stages of four international tournaments.
He took the national squad to the World Cup finals in 2010 and is currently preparing the team for the 2012 European Cup in Poland and Ukraine. The team has been drawn in one of the toughest groups and will have to battle it out against Denmark, Portugal and Germany to make it through to the second round.
