This year's Golden Goose Feather literary prize has been awarded to Adriaan van Dis, a writer whose work has captivated Dutch society for more than 25 years.

THE NETHERLANDS - The prize is awarded each year to an author with a special significance for the written word.

The prize consists only of a golden feather; no money is awarded.

The members of the academy that selects the winner come from the worlds of culture, science, politics and business life.

Last year, the prize went to the writer, poet and essayist Joost Zwagerman.
