AMSTERDAM — Dutch soccer coach Marco van Basten has decided "in principle" not to include midfielder Mark van Bommel and striker Ruud van Nistelrooy in the national side again.

The coach has not called on the two for the friendly against Ireland next Wednesday.  He said he is going to look to other players in future, including Ajax's Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. The top scorer last season, Huntelaar was not included in the Dutch side for the World Cup in Germany earlier this summer.

Van Bommel was left out of the national side for a considerable period before getting the call up for the World Cup. Van Nistelrooy has been the main striker under Van Basten.

Van Nistelrooy transferred at the beginning of the season from Manchester United to the star-studded team of Real Madrid. Van Bommel has been with FC Barcelona for a year, during which time the club won the Champions League and became Spanish champions.
