VVD support would mean broad support for mission in Parliament.

AMSTERDAM – The Liberal VVD seems to be in agreement with extending the Dutch military mission to the Afghan province of Uruzgan. The NOS public broadcaster has reported this.

If the VVD approves the mission, there will be a broad majority in Parliament in support of the cabinet's initiative. The VVD is demanding that the defence ministry not be required to pay for the extra costs of the extension from its own budget, a demand with which Defence Minister Eimert van Middelkoop seems to agree.
