AMSTERDAM – The Liberal VVD faction in Parliament has demanded clarification from State secretary for justice Nebahat Albayrak on the shooting in Enschede on Sunday in which a 44-year-old woman was killed. The suspect is reportedly a 29-year-old man on trial leave from court-ordered psychiatric treatment.

VVD MP wants to know how the psychiatric patient was able to get hold of a gun and why the man was given permission to leave the psychiatric clinic when he was clearly still a danger.

Geert Wilders' Freedom Party supported the call for an emergency debate.

Teeven also wants clarification on a separate incident in which a security guard at a psychiatric clinic reportedly used violence against a patient.

Four men were wounded in the shooting in Enschede this weekend. The police announced on Monday that they were out of danger. The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident. Later in the day three youths between the ages of 17 and 18 were also arrested in connection with the crime.
