THE NETHERLANDS - A committee member of the FC Utrecht supporters' club has been sentenced to two years in jail for selling cocaine, whitewashing money and possession of firearms.

The 51-year-old, George D., was also accused of being the leader of a criminal organisation. His full surname is being withheld under the journalistic code of conduct in the Netherlands.

The investigation against the man from De Bilt began with the suspicion that he was using bus trips to away games as a cover for drug smuggling.

He was arrested last year, after he had offered to sell a British undercover police officer 50,000 ecstasy pills, but was later released due to procedural errors.
