DELFT - Students at the Delft University of Technology are meeting with university authorities, aid workers and insurance experts on Wednesday morning in the aftermath of the fire that devastated the Civil Engineering Faculty building.

On Tuesday, a short circuit caused a fire which quickly ravaged the entire building. No-one was injured in the blaze, although many of the students' building models, as well as a rare collection of chairs by architects Rietveld and Le Corbusier have been lost in the inferno.

One wing of the university building has collapsed. Two student flats and some houses in the immediate vicinity were evacuated. The students were offered hotel accommodation on Tuesday night.
