Unions stage actions at tax offices

19 March 2007 , AMSTERDAM - It will be difficult today to contact some of the tax offices because tax employees will not answer the telephone. They are holding an action for a better collective labour agreement.

AMSTERDAM  - It will be difficult today to contact some of the tax offices because tax employees will not answer the telephone. They are holding an action for a better collective labour agreement.

The Tax offices Helpline that taxpayers can phone to ask questions about their tax returns can be reached though, according to a spokesperson for of the Tax Authorities because these helplines are in part manned by temps.

Abvakabo FNV, CNV Public Affairs, CMHF and Ambtenarencentrum have been staging actions for weeks. The unions have called for a wage increase of 2.5 percent and compensation for the rising health care premiums. Up to now the government has offered a wage hike of 2 percent.

The actions will be held today at the offices in Amsterdam, Leeuwarden, Rotterdam, Maastricht, Heerlen, Apeldoorn and The Hague.
