US abduction case solved in the Netherlands
Three boys who were abducted by their fathers in California two years ago have been found in the Netherlands.
The three boys are thought to have been reunited with their mothers in The Hague on Saturday. Two men, their fathers, are being held in custody in The Hague and are awaiting extradition.
The two were arrested in an asylum centre in the northern Dutch town of Dronten at the request of the US authorities. They were using a false name. It is not know how long they were in the Netherlands.
It was feared that the men had taken the boys to Syria, their country of birth. The parents of the men in Athens have also been arrested in connection with the abduction at the request of the US authorities. The men had visited them in Greece.
The men are thought to have fled California out of fear of revenge by victims of a large-scale fraud in which they were involved.
