BRUSSELS – A Dutch MP wants the minister of Justice to investigate whether Dutch hallucinogenic mushrooms were at the root of the triple murder last week in the Brussels neighbourhood of Marollen.

Raymond De Roon, a member of Geert Wilders' Freedom Party PVV, submitted a question about this in Parliament.

The minister has been charged with inquiring in Belgium whether the 19-year-old suspect murdered his sister and parents while under the influence of hallucinogenic mushrooms. De Roon also wants to know whether the mushrooms were purchased in the Netherlands.

If there is a connection between the murders and the mushrooms, then De Roon wants a ban on the hallucinogenic drugs.

At the beginning of this year a French tourist fell to her death in Amsterdam while under the influence of hallucinogenic mushrooms. The discussion on a ban on these drugs has been ongoing since the incident.
