BRUSSELS – The police in the Belgian city of Tongeren have received a number of responses after publishing a facial composite and description of a Dutch-speaking man that a witness believes she saw in the company of missing British girl Madeleine McCann. The police are following up on all the information received.

A spokesperson for the police says that the Dutch television programme Opsporing Verzocht, which tries to locate missing persons, will devote attention to the case next week.

A witness says she saw Maddie last Saturday at a terrace in Tongeren, near Maastricht. The girl was reportedly accompanied by an English-speaking woman aged about 25 and a Dutch-speaking man aged about 40.

A facial composite of the man based on descriptions from witnesses has been published.

Four-year-old Maddie disappeared from a hotel room in Portugal on 3 May.
