Tilburg police arrest 44 Groningen fans

Groningen fans arrive in Tilburg without tickets on Sunday, and are returned home.

TILBURG - Police in the southern Dutch city of Tilburg arrested 44 supporters of Groningen football club on Sunday.

Police made the arrests after over 150 Groningen fans arrived by train in Tilburg at midday. Lacking tickets for the game between the two teams, all 150 were sent back home. When a group of fans slipped out of the train, they were arrested.

Seven of the fans returned to Groningen, in the far north of the Netherlands, were arrested on arrival for vandalising the train.
