THE HAGUE – Police caught a very young shoplifter in The Hague on Thursday. Family members had encouraged the 3-year-old and his siblings and a cousin to smuggle toys out of a shop.
The adult family members have been arrested, police said on Friday.
Shop personnel caught the child's mother. She had let the five children stuff toys worth EUR 150 into their pockets.
The children were between the ages of three and 12. Two family members waited for them outside the shop. The gang appears to have robbed a drugstore in a similar manner earlier in the day.
The five children are being looked after by other relatives at the moment, police said.
