Development Cooperation Minister Bert Koenders has pledged three million euros in aid for the Gaza Strip to help Palestinians cope with Israel's two-week offensive.

THE HAGUE – Two million euros will go to UNRWA, the United Nations relief agency for Palestinians. The remaining one million euros will be given to the Red Crescent, the branch of the International Red Cross operating in Islamic countries.

The development minister lashed out at Israel, saying it could do far more to ease the plight of Gaza's civilian population.

The Belgian government is sending a plane to Egypt to help evacuate wounded children from the Gaza Strip. Some of them will be flown to Belgium to receive medical treatment there.
