Three Dutch soldiers back in Holland
The three Dutch soldiers released by Libya on Thursday are back in the Netherlands. They landed at Eindhoven airbase on Saturday afternoon and were welcomed there by the head of the armed forces, General Peter van Uhm.
The three soldiers -- two men and a woman -- arrived on a flight from Athens, where they had been flown after their release by the Libyan authorities. They had been captured 12 days earlier while trying to evacuate two people near the town of Syrte with a Lynx helicopter.
The Dutch government has expressed relief that intense diplomatic consultations resulted in their release. The botched operation has come in for sharp criticism and is to be debated in parliament soon.http://cdn.radionetherlands.nl/data/files/a_vliegtuig.jpg
