Three Dutch contestants have already been knocked out of the Dakar Rally. The race for all kinds of off-road vehicles is taking place in Argentina and Chile this year.

Gerard de Rooy, Wuf van Ginkel and Hans Bekx failed to get their lorries past the finish line of the first leg. Van Ginkel and Bekx were forced to drop out after their vehicles overturned.

De Rooy had to retire after his truck left the road and crashed back to the ground injuring his back. He had been tipped as a possible rally winner.
