THE HAGUE – The chance of a terrorist attack in the Netherlands has decreased, according to the National Coordination Office for Anti-terrorism.

Coordinator Tjibbe Joustra has lowered the national threat level from "substantial" to "slight," meaning that the chance of an attack is relatively small, but cannot be entirely ruled out. The lowering of the threat level will not affect security measures at all.

Information from the intelligence services indicate that the situation surrounding extremist Islamic networks has calmed down. Many groups of radical Muslims have fallen apart - on the one hand because of actions by police and justice officials, and on the other hand because of a lack of leadership.
