Thousands join South Africa Gay Parade
Thousands of people have joined a Gay Pride parade in South Africa's capital Johannesburg, the continent's largest such event. The aim of the parade is to draw attention to the persecution of homosexuals across the continent.
Organisers say more than 18,000 people took part in the march. They warn that a growing number of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people are being arrested across Africa.
South Africa is the only country in the continent which allows same-sex marriages. In 38 of the continent's 53 countries, homosexuality is considered a criminal offence.
