AMSTERDAM — Police have arrested a teenager for allegedly stabbing a 15-year-old boy to death in Rotterdam South on Sunday night.
Police say the suspect is among the group of six youths, aged 14 to 18, arrested soon after the stabbing. His statement to police allegedly revealed him as the person who inflicted the fatal stab wound.
The suspect is believed to be about the same age as the victim, news service NOS reported on Monday.
The 15-year-old victim was stabbed at 6.45pm on the Beijerlandselaan in Rotterdam South. There appears to have been an argument before the stabbing but the police have not revealed any details of what led to the attack.
The culprit left the scene quickly after the stabbing and the victim made it to a nearby restaurant, where he collapsed and was taken to the Southern Hospital. He died at about 8.30pm.
Police are still investigating what role, if any, the other five teens played in the incident.
