Technical failure: Dutch shoppers couldn't pay

24th September 2010, Comments 0 comments

The Dutch retail trade was disrupted by a nationwide breakdown of the electronic payment system on Friday afternoon, local time. The widely used PIN machines went dead in up to 80 percent of shops, as did wall-mounted cashpoints.

The fault was repaired after an hour. It is not clear how it was caused.
