TV condom promos not for young Dutch
Dutch government television advertisements promoting the use of condoms look set to be banned from being shown before at least 8pm, says free newspaper .
The small rightwing SGP religious party objected to the public services broadcasts being shown before the watershed, saying they might have an adverse effect on young children.
The minority centre-right government relies on SGP support to ensure it a slim majority in the Dutch Upper House or Senate.
Health Minister Edith Schippers says public information broadcasts will in future be graded according to the government’s guidelines for viewers. It will then be determined whether or not they may be screened before either an 8 pm or 10 pm watershed.
The government is in fact cutting these kinds of information campaigns from the end of this year.
