Swiss city rewards Dutch with cheese
Swiss mayor congratulates one Dutch fan, ironically, with a big wheel of cheese…

SWITZERLAND - A big cheese was awarded to one lucky Dutch fan Tuesday by the Swiss city of Berne before the Oranje nailed their third victory of Euro 2008.
Petra van den Ham was chosen to receive the cheese and chocolates as the federal capital notched up 500,000 supporters since the tournament began 10 days ago.
Berne Mayor Alexander Tschappat handed over the prizes, which were somewhat tongue-in-cheek, he admitted, as the city realised that Holland produces more cheese and chocolate than Switzerland.
Dutch supporters have turned the city into one big party during the elimination round, having won all three of their first-round games there and secured a place in the quarter-finals.
The fans are set to leave Berne and follow their team to Basle, where they are due to play Saturday in the next round.
