Sven Kramer wins 5K, Blokhuijsen leading

Dutch skater Sven Kramer has won the 5000-metre race at the 2012 European Allround Speed Skating Championships in the Hungarian capital Budapest. After two races, Jan Blokhuijsen is at the top of the table.

Kramer came in first, on 6:31.82, followed by Blokhuijsen on 6:36.49. Frenchman Alexix Contin was third with a time of 6:38.08. Eearlier in the day, Blokhuijsen ended third in the 500-metre race, taking the lead as the best performing of the Dutch skaters in Budapest.

Kramer came in tenth, which means Blokhuijsen is now heading the table, followed by Kramer, Haralds Silovs from Latvia, and Contin. Sunday will see the men compete in the 1500 and 10,000-metre races.
