Survey: Dutch fear language is deteriorating

10 November 2003 , AMSTERDAM — About half of the Dutch population believes the nation's language is deteriorating and a large majority believes that many people can no longer write faultless letters, research bureau NFO Trendbox said on Monday.

AMSTERDAM — About half of the Dutch population believes the nation's language is deteriorating and a large majority believes that many people can no longer write faultless letters, research bureau NFO Trendbox said on Monday.

The research bureau also said the survey of 500 people indicated that 46 percent believe that education in the Dutch language is progressively worsening. Among respondents aged 50 and above, 60 percent felt that language education was getting worse.
