Students at Dutch Reformed Church secondary schools will be taught the classes with the aim of making homosexuality something that can be discussed.
The method does not make a judgement about whether gays and lesbians should be able to have relationships. Gays in the strict Protestant church argue that the bible can be interpreted in different ways.
The Nederlands Dagblad newspaper, which represents the views of the church, does not agree.
In an editorial, the paper says the bible states repeatedly that a homosexual lifestyle is not acceptable in the sight of God.
That is why, the paper reasons, being gay will always be a problem for Christians.
