Streetcoaches to quiet rowdy teenagers

20th September 2009, Comments 0 comments

Street coaches will be deployed in the city of Utrecht to combat trouble caused by teenagers.

Utrecht - The local government is responding to complaints by residents in the Vleuten-De Meern neigbourhood of the city, who have for two years been drawing attention to the bad behaviour of young people on the streets.

The coaches will mingle with the teenagers and discuss their attitude; the parents will also be involved.

Police officers will be helping the coaches, who are qualified security officers with good social skills.

Local authorities are still considering whether to ban public alcohol consumption in the area.

Street coaches were introduced earlier in other Utrecht neighbourhoods and in Amsterdam.
