Story of the Flying Housewife to be filmed

Dutch filmmaker, Dana Nechustan, is planning to make a film on Olympic athlete Fanny Blankers-Koen. Ms Blankers-Koen won four gold medals at the London Olympics in 1948. Her success won her the nickname "The Flying Housewife" in the British press.

At the time Ms Blankers-Koen was over-30 and a mother of two. Women's athletics was acceptable back then, but it was almost unheard of for a mother to compete.

"Fanny Blankers-Koen wanted to win at any cost, her life had high and low points. But it's mainly a heroic film about women in top sport."
