AMSTERDAM — Meteorology bureau KNMI issued a storm warning on Friday, alerting the public to thunder storms and strong wind gusts.

KNMI said due to the recent warm weather, a storm will break over the Netherlands on Friday.

Wind gusts of up to 90kmh are expected, as is very heavy rain, possibly resulting in flooding.

A severe thunder storm was reported in France early Friday afternoon. The weather pattern is being blown in the direction of the Netherlands.

A KNMI spokesman said the storm will cross the country from the south-west to the north-east, newspaper 'De Telegraaf' reported.

He said beach goers and water sports enthusiasts should anticipate a sudden change in weather.
