Madrid - It is still not clear what caused the coach crash in Spain yesterday evening in which six Dutch tourists were killed.

However, one of the passengers says he had the feeling the coach was going too fast. He says the coach left the road, went through two crash barriers and turned over. The Spanish police are still investigating the crash.

There was some confusion about the number of fatalities. The travel agent in question initially reported eight deaths but that has since been corrected to six. Forty-six people were injured, six of them seriously. The coach was carrying 65 Dutch tourists returning to the Costa Brava after a trip to Barcelona.

Queen Beatrix and the Dutch cabinet have expressed their sympathy with the victims and their relatives.

A special information number has been set up for people who want to know if any of their relatives were on the coach.

The number to ring is 0800 099 00 99.

Outside the Netherlands the number is 0031 20 65 15 818.
