Spain are through to their first-ever World Cup final after beating Germany 1-0. On Sunday, the Spanish squad will face Holland.

The decisive goal was scored in the 73rd minute by Carles Puyol, who netted the ball with a powerful header. The goal came after Spain, who were playing their first ever semi-final, kept raising the pressure at the beginning of the second half, with Germany only occasionally posing a threat.

In the first half, Spain had already dominated possession and created a number of opportunities but had failed to capitalise. Towards the end Germany slowly came back and had at least one dangerous shot. In the last minute, a German striker went down in the Spanish penalty area but the referee correctly refused to award a penalty.
