As of 2012, all new campers and delivery vans must be fitted with soot filters to reduce air pollution.

AMSTERDAM—To this end, Environment Minister Jacqueline Cramer will sign a so-called 'particulate matter agreement' with 19 employers' organisations on Thursday.

The environment ministry has earmarked 51 million euros to facilitate the transition to a clean fleet of vans and campers. The employers' hope the agreement will prevent a new particulate matter tax on diesel-powered vehicles.

The Netherlands currently has about 900,000 delivery vans, one third of which are fitted with soot filters. The employers' organisations have committed themselves to increasing that number to half of all vehicles by May.
