Small quake in south of Netherlands
There are reports of an earthquake on Thursday evening coming from several parts of the Netherlands.
A minor quake was felt in and around Utrecht, Nijmegen and Venray at least. The police were swamped with phone calls from people wanting to know what was happening.
The KNMI, the Dutch meteorological office, was unable to confirm that an earthquake took place.
Science journalist Govert Schilling claims the epicentre was 21 kilometres to the southwest of the town of Nijmegen and just east of Boxtel.
The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre in France reports that the quake registered 4.3 on the Richter scale and puts it 11 kilometres to the southeast of Nijmegen, near the German border.
There are no reports of injury or damage.
