Slumdog Millionaire wins prizes at film festival
At the International Film Festival in Rotterdam, Slumdog Millionaire directed by Danny Boyle has won the public award.
ROTTERDAM - The prize is accompanied by 7,500 euros. Slumdog Millionaire also won the MovieSquad award from Rotterdam Film Festival's young people's jury.
Last month the film received 4 Golden Globes and it is one of the favourites for the Oscars in three weeks time.
In spite of its international success, the film about an Indian orphan who wins a fortune, has failed to be a hit in India itself.
The 38th edition of the Rotterdam Film Festival attracted 341,000 visitors, slightly less than last year.
Two hundred and ninety-five long films were screened during the twelve-day festival, 43 of them world premieres and 400 short films.
The organisation also introduced its new tiger logo. Today is the last day.
