Silent prisoner's identity determined at last

A man who kept quiet for two months after being arrested for attempting to rob a store in Assen has been identified as a British citizen.

DRENTHE -- The identity of the man who spent two months in a police cell in the province of Drenthe without saying a word has finally been established.

The man is a 34-year-old British citizen who is sought by police in England on charges of grievous bodily harm. Checks of the man's fingerprints have confirmed his identity.

He was arrested in August, when he attempted to rob a store in Assen. Since then he has refused to say a word. It is thought that he will soon be extradited to England.
