DEN HAAG (ANP) – The business sector is suffering from a growing shortage of people with a high science qualification.
The number of vacancies in this sector difficult to be filled grew from 30 percent in 2003 to 50 percent in 2006, while outside the science sector the number was 35 percent last year.
This emerges from a survey done by the marketing agency SEO at the request of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. A commission advising Minister of Education Maria van der Hoeven will include the survey’s findings in their recommendations.
A shortage of construction and civil engineers is forecast up to the year 2020.
