AMSTERDAM — Police hope that seven tips received from the public will help unravel the mystery surrounding the discovery of a woman's body in Schiedam last week.
The woman's body was wrapped in plastic and was lying in water near a children's play area in Schiedam, not far from Rotterdam.
Rotterdam-Rijnmond Police Department said on Wednesday that detectives hoped one or more of the tips will help establish the woman's identity.
The gruesome discovery caused uproar in the area, particularly because the body was left near an area where children were playing.
The body was intact and was in the water for a few days. The police said the victim was a "young woman", but the autopsy could not establish more about her age.
Witnesses said they saw a suitcase in the water but the police have not recovered it. They hope the information from the public will also reveal more about this aspect of the mystery.
