Under the new package, teachers will have more free time and higher pay.

THE NETHERLANDS – Teachers’ unions and employers in the Netherlands have agreed a new pay and conditions deal for secondary school teachers.

Under the new agreement, teachers will have 24 more hours as free time per year and can take the extra holiday time whenever they want. They will also receive a salary increase of 7 percent over the next two years.

In November, secondary school teachers, complaining of increased pressure at work, launched a campaign of industrial action which includes rolling strikes.
