AMSTERDAM - The police have issued an international notice alerting authorities to be on the lookout for a stolen tank lorry carrying 27,000 litres of Diisobutilchetone.

The semitrailer was stolen late Sunday night from the Varenschut industrial part in Helmond. Diisobutilchetone is a paint solvent. It is highly flammable and can explode upon contact with air, a spokesperson said on Tuesday.

The police say the substance is only in danger of explosion if it evaporates in high temperatures.

The tank lorry belongs to transport company De Rijke in Spijkenisse. According to the company the driver of the lorry was en route to Germany, but parked the vehicle at the industrial area in his hometown of Helmond on Saturday and planned to continue his journey on Monday.
