Rutte on three-day visit to Russia

Prime Minister Mark Rutte is on a three-day visit to Russia at the invitation of President Dmitri Medvedev. Mr Rutte is being accompanied by Transport Minister Melanie Schultz van Haegen and a Dutch business delegation.

Employers’ organisation VNO-NCW Chairman Bernard Wientjes leads a delegation of CEOs of 15 Dutch multinationals including Shell, Gasunie. DSM, Heineken, Philips and KLM. In addition, some 70 medium and small sized businesses are also represented on the delegation.

The Dutch business delegation will meet their Russian counterparts on a number of occasions. Our country is one of the world’s major importers of Russian products. The Netherlands exports for about 6 billion euros a year to Russia.

Mr Rutte will meet President Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in Moscow. In St Petersburg the Dutch prime minister will pay a visit to the world famous Hermitage. Together with Ms Schultz van Haegen he will visit a storm barrier built with Dutch assistance.
