THE HAGUE – VVD leader Mark Rutte wants a public debate on immigration and integration with Christian democrat faction leader Pieter van Geel. He wrote this on Tuesday in an open letter to Van Geel.

The letter is in reaction to comments the CDA faction leader made on television programme Pauw en Witteman on Monday. During the programme Van Geel criticised VVD proposals for improving immigration and integration policy.

Rutte says Van Geel has not come up with any solutions so far and he fears that the CDA will fall by the wayside in the discussion on problems with immigration and integration.
