Man in Russian President Medvedev's entourage arrested for suspected assault of woman in Amsterdam.

Amsterdam -- Amsterdam police arrested and briefly detained a member of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's staff on Saturday, a police spokesperson revealed on Tuesday.
The man was in the president's entourage during the brief state visit on the occasion of the opening of Amsterdam's new Hermitage museum. The detainee was suspected of having assaulted a 19-year-old woman employed by the hotel in which he was staying.
The Russian was released on Saturday evening after paying a EUR 1,000 fine plus EUR 200 in damages to the woman. The public prosecutor's office said it took this option because it was deemed unlikely that the man would appear at a trial.
