AMSTERDAM (dpa) - Britain's Royal Bank of Scotland has requested Euronext market to be registered at the Amsterdam stock exchange.

In advertisements published in Thursday's daily newspapers, the British bank said it wants its shares to be registered in Amsterdam as of October 15.

Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) is the leading bank in a consortium, which also includes Belgian-Dutch Fortis NV and Spain's Banco Santander, due to take over ABN Amro bank on October 17.

RBS shares are currently registered at the London Stock Exchange (LSE). The opening price of the shares in Amsterdam will be based on their value at the LSE.

On Thursday, ABN Amro shares will disappear from the main index of the Amsterdam stock exchange, the AEX, also in connection with the RBS consortium's takeover.
