The ports of Rotterdam and the Romanian city of Constanta have signed a cooperation agreement in a bid to form “Europe’s logistical axis”.

The ceremony in Romania was attended by Dutch Infrastructure Minister Melanie Schultz van Haegen and her Romanian counterpart.

Located at opposite ends of the European Union, Romania and the Netherlands are Europe’s logistical gates, a spokesperson for the Dutch minister said.

Both ports are investing in the development of Europe’s logistical East-West axis, the spokesperson added.

The ports aim to present a specific cooperation plan in June.
