Rocket lands near Dutch Afghanistan camp

A rocket landed near the Dutch Kunduz military camp in northern on Friday evening without causing any injuries or material damage, the defence ministry says, which said nothing on possible Afghan victims.

It is unusual for rockets to be fired at Kunduz Camp, the ministry says, in contrast to Kandahar Airfield, for example.

The international base is home to around 350 Dutch staff who are there to train Afghan police officers. Earlier this week it was announced that the training courses will start in October, three months before they were planned to begin.  cl
