THE HAGUE- Rainy weather and the end of the May school holidays have resulted in a much busier Monday rush hour than usual, motorists' association ANWB has warned.

There were 220 kilometres in traffic jams as of 7 am this morning. The ANWB says the roads are twice as busy as usual.

"These are the normal daily traffic jams, but they are much longer than usual today as people are driving more carefully because of the bad weather," said a spokesperson.

The ANWB warned over the weekend that rain may make roads slippery today because of oil that could be on the road surfaces after the long dry period.
